The Story
When I began writing this book,
2020 was drawing to a close. It not only brought the devastation of COVID-19, but it also widened the gaps between numerous groups of people.
More than ever, the struggles of millions of marginalized individuals have been brought to light, revealing truths that many Americans cannot even begin to comprehend. I’m talking about people who struggle because they have, as Parker Palmer says, “otherness.”
Perhaps they are people of color or members of the LGBTQ+ community. Or both. Maybe they have a physical, mental, or emotional disability. Perhaps they practice a religion other than Christianity.
More people need to read their stories
and understand their challenges.

My Next Book … Coming Spring 2026
Happy and Solo at Church
Light Your Fire and Worship with Joy
Going to church alone can be frustrating and painful.
Whether you’re single, a widow/widower, or married but attending without your spouse, it often feels like places of worship cater more to couples and families.
Happy and Solo at Church will help readers attend church because they want to, not because they have to.
It focuses on practical, easy steps to help solo attendees gradually change their situation and mindset. Readers will learn about others like them and gain confidence
that they, too, can grow their faith
and look forward to going to church!
